Providence man found guilty of shooting man three times

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man has been found guilty of felony assault and firearms charges in Providence County Superior Court stemming from a 2022 shooting incident.
Jashua Adames Torres, 23, was found guilty of one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, one count of carrying a pistol without a license and one count of firing in a compact area.
The incident took place on July 23, 2022 at 4:36 a.m. on Bodell Avenue in Providence when Torres shot the 32-year-old victim three times in the lower body following a verbal altercation.
Police responded to the scene to find the victim bleeding heavily and applied a tourniquet.
The victim was then transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
The victim reported that he was targeted in a robbery by unknown assailants.
A blood trail was followed by police leading back to Bodell Avenue where four male subjects, including Torres, were located.
Surveillance video obtained from Providence Public housing showed the verbal altercation between the victim and Torres, as well as Torres producing a gun and firing it at the victim.
Torres will be sentenced at a later date and is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions.
