PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Pawtucket police are investigating an assault that took place at Slater Park Wednesday at 5 p.m.

According to Pawtucket police, a woman reported the incident two hours after it occurred, saying that she was accosted by two males while she was exiting a porta-potty.

One suspect brandished a knife and the victim said that she attacked the suspect in self-defense, sustaining a minor cut on her hand.

Both suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle.

The information given by the victim suggests that this was a supposedly targeted assault and not a random incident.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
