Bridgewater man dies after hitting tree, ejecting from truck in Middleborough

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — A Bridgewater man was killed after crashing his truck into a tree Monday in Middleborough.
The Middleborough Police Department said the 23-year-old man was ejected from the pickup into a small brook beside the road.
Officials said the crash occurred on Fuller Street, with officers responding around 11:41 a.m.
Divers from the Middleborough Fire Department attempted a water rescue, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
A preliminary investigation suggested the man was speeding before the accident.
The identity of the driver is not being released pending notification of next of kin, officials said, adding that the crash is still under investigation.
Fuller Street at the Middleborough and Halifax town line will be closed to traffic while the scene is still active.
