Route 102 set for temporary closure in Burrillville
BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE) — Officials are giving drivers a heads-up that a section of Route 102 in Burrillville will temporarily close later this month.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said Monday that Route 102 between Central Street and East Avenue will close starting June 21 for bridge work.
RIDOT said traffic will follow a signed detour, passing through the village of Harrisville, during the closure.
Officials added that a temporary traffic signal will be at the intersection of East Avenue and Central Street to help detour traffic.
RIDOT said large trucks will follow a different detour, using Route 7, Route 44 and I-295.
All detour routes can be found on RIDOT’s website.
The department said they intend to reopen the road before school resumes in the fall.
RIDOT said crews will be replacing the Lapham Bridge and rehabilitating the Pascoag River Bridge as part of the project, slated for completion in June 2025.
