Man’s ear bitten off during fight in Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A Plymouth man was arrested after allegedly biting another man’s ear off during a drunken fight over the weekend.
The Plymouth Police Department said 39-year-old Michael O’Driscoll “bit a good chunk” of a victim’s ear off in an altercation around 1 a.m. Sunday at a North Plymouth residence.
Police said O’Driscoll and the 40-year-old victim from Dorchester had been out all day and into the evening on a sightseeing cruise, continuing to drink as the night progressed.
The two men then went to the North Plymouth residence, where an argument began and punches were thrown.
Officials said O’Driscoll pinned his opponent to the ground and put his mouth to the man’s ear.
The man pleaded for O’Driscoll to refrain from biting his ear, according to authorities, who said the pleading “went unheeded.”
Responding officers said a two-inch piece of the ear was in a cup of ice water upon their arrival.
O’Driscoll was arrested and charged with assault and battery with serious bodily injury, as well as a mayhem charge.
