Three injured in Narragansett boat crash

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is actively investigating a boat crash that happened last night in the Port of Galilee.
According to the Rhode Island Coast Guard Sector Southeast, around 10 p.m. last night, officials received a notification that a vessel had collided with a break wall in Point Judith.
Officials said three boaters on board received minor injuries.
Coast Guard Station Point Judith, Narragansett Fire Department, and the Department of Environmental Management responded to the scene.
Rhode Island DEM is investigating the incident as a possible Boating While Intoxicated (BWI).
“As warmer weather brings more people out on the water, we urge all boaters to prioritize their safety by boating sober and ensuring they have the proper safety equipment such including life jackets, functioning navigation lights, and an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon,” said a representative for the R.I. Coast Guard in a statement.
