Roger Williams Park Zoo welcomes 1-year-old giraffe

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Roger Williams Park Zoo has added a new edition to their giraffe heard, in honor of World Giraffe Week.

1-year-old Enzi joins Cora and Providence, who are also a part of the zoo’s AZA’s Species Survival Plan (SSP).

These programs are crucial for keeping giraffe populations healthy and diverse, according to a Facebook post from the zoo.

According to the post, Masai giraffes, like Enzi, are endangered, but thanks to conservation efforts, their numbers are slowly growing again.

Enzi’s already showing his sweet personality, and the keepers are helping him adjust to his new home.
