The Heat is on the Way
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The heat and humidity synonymous with summer is already here.
Starting today, look for lots of sunshine and an increase in heat and humidity.
Temperatures away from the coast will top out well into the 80s while you’ll find the 70s along the beaches.
We have a HEAT ADVISORY in effect from this afternoon through Friday evening for non-coastal counties of Southern New England.
In these areas, we could have heat indices/feel-like temperatures in the upper 90s.
For Juneteenth, expect a continuation of the sunshine with a heat and humidity trend as highs in the interior hit 90.
Everything peaks on Thursday which is also the first day of Summer with your Solstice time of 4:51 p.m.
Temperatures inland Thursday will top out in the lower to mid-90s and with the humidity expected, could feel closer to 100.
Friday will have a few more clouds with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Temperatures will be cooler in the 80s for the weekend, but the humidity will be high, keeping the mugginess in place.
