Police: Wanted man arrested in New Bedford in possession of narcotics, gun

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford narcotics detectives arrested a wanted man June 12 and allegedly found him in possession of crack and an unlicensed pistol.

Jonathan Martinez, 40, of New Bedford, was observed operating a vehicle on the evening of June 12 and was subjected to a stop.

Investigation found Martinez to be in possession of a 9 mm loaded handgun in the vehicle’s center console as well as a bag of crack cocaine on his person, according to police.

Martinez was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, possession of crack cocaine, as well as his original warrant.
