Brockton fire destroys restaurant on Main Street
BROCKTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A heavy fire broke out at a restaurant in Brockton this morning.
According to officials, the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on Main Street at Khalil’s Kitchen after fire officials received multiple reports of smoke and fire coming from a building.
The building is also home to Garcia’s Grocery and Tropical Store.
The third alarm fire was so heavy, that Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said the roof started to collapse in several places, as the left side of the building began to bow out.
Nardelli told news crews that some people escaped from the basement of the building.
No injures were reported in the fire.
“These firefighters have been working all day, going to multiple calls throughout the day now this at one in the morning, they’re already beat up from working all day and the humidity is still lingering in the air. They preserved through it,” said Nardelli.
