Dennis Police restrict beach access over July 4 weekend

DENNIS, Mass. (WLNE) — Police in Dennis are restricting beach access for the 4th of July weekend after crowds have been “unruly” in previous years.
In a video posted by the department, Chief of Police Peter DiMatteo shared that the reason for restricting beach access has been due to an increase in fights, vandalism, binge drinking.
No daily parking passes will be accepted at Mayflower, Chapin, or Bayview beaches, and a parking ban will be in effect in nearby neighborhoods this 4th of July.
There will also be zero tolerance for alcohol and drug use.
