Man charged with hitting Coventry Police officer posts bail

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — A man from Connecticut who’s suspected of hitting a Coventry Police officer has posted bail, according to police.

19-year-old Ryland Roy, of Thompson, Connecticut, was officially charged with Serious Bodily Injury, Driving So As To Endanger – Resulting in Physical Injury, and Felony Assault and/or Battery.

The department said Roy turned himself and was arraigned on June 21.

Officers responded to the Coventry Bike Path in the area of Lewis Farm Road around 9 p.m. to break up a party on June 18.

A car then fled the scene, hitting an officer on the way, and headed in the direction of Connecticut.

His bail was set at $5,000.
