Coventry man charged with offering drugs to children

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — A Coventry man has been arrested on charges of attempting to offer children drugs, according to Coventry police.
John Anderson, 63, of Coventry, is accused of attempting to offer two minors marijuana on a wooded path near Tiogue Elementary School Thursday.
The minors escaped the area and reported the incident to their parents, and the suspect was located by concerned neighbors and kept at the scene.
Anderson was arrested and charged with two counts of enticement of children and possession of a schedule I-V controlled substance.
His bail was set at $2,500 surety with a felony screening date of August 19.
Anderson was also issued a no contact order with the two minors.
