CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston police said a cruiser was hit while trying to stop a stolen car Saturday evening.

Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist said the collision occurred just after 4 p.m. when an officer attempted to pull over a car that was registered as stolen.

Authorities said the car containing two suspects refused to stop, crossing into Warwick before driving down a dead-end street.

The car then turned around and hit the cruiser at the intersection of Manson Avenue and Norwood Avenue, leading to some minor damage to the cruiser’s tire, officials said.

Police said the officer was not injured but added that the suspects are still on the loose.
