Dartmouth stabbing may have been pre-arranged altercation, police say

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — Officials said an altercation between two teens at the Dartmouth Mall over the weekend may have been pre-arranged.

The Dartmouth Police Department said one 16-year-old was stabbed and another arrested as a result of the incident in the mall parking lot outside Five Below on Sunday.

Police said officers responded to reports of the stabbing around 2:50 p.m.

Authorities said they arrived to find a 16-year-old male from New Bedford suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds.

A second 16-year-old male from Fall River was found at Lowe’s on Faunce Corner Mall Road after fleeing the scene on a bicycle, according to officials.

Both were taken to the hospital and were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

An investigation revealed that the altercation may have been pre-arranged over social media.

Police said the incident is still under investigation, adding that additional charges may come as a result of the findings.
