Gov. Dan McKee set to sign LGBTQIA+ bills as Pride Month comes to an end

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — To mark the final week of Pride Month, Governor Dan McKee is set to sign legislation supporting reproductive healthcare for the LGBTQIA+ community.

There are three bills that will be signed at 9 a.m. this morning at Thundermist Healthcare Center of Woonsocket.

The first bill creates a protective shield for healthcare providers providing transgender or reproductive healthcare services in Rhode Island.

The second bill eliminates prior authorization for prescriptions for any HIV prevention drug and the requirement of copayment or meeting any deductive to obtain the prescription covered by the policy or plan.

The third bill allows a person petitioning to change their name in a city/town probate court where they live.
