FBI, Westport Police on scene at Route 88 in Westport

WESPORT, Mass. (WLNE) — The Federal Bureau Investigation’s Evidence team of Boston were on the scene of Route 88 in Westport in connection with with an ongoing, multi-jurisdictional investigation, according to a representative.

According to Kristen Setera from the FBI’s Office of Public Affairs, officials are searching for specific evidence and there is no threat to public safety.

The Massachusetts State Police, Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and the Westport Police Department are providing assistance in the investigation.

“We recognize the traffic disruptions this may cause, and we are working as expeditiously as possible. We appreciate the public’s patience as we conduct this important law enforcement activity,” she said in a statement.
