Boston Celtics put up for sale

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Fresh off of their record 18th NBA championship, the Boston Celtics are now up for sale, according to a statement from the team.

Boston Basketball Partners LLC announced Monday that it will sell all shares of the team.

Owner Wyc Grousbeck “has decided to sell the team for estate and family planning considerations.”

The majority interest of the team is expected to be sold in 2024 or early 2025.

Grousbeck will remain Governor of the team until the second closing in 2028.

Grousbeck and his ownership group bought the team in 2002.
