Rhode Island Democratic Party chair releases statement backing President Biden
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Democratic Party Chair Liz Beretta-Perik released a statement of support for President Joe Biden after pressure from members of his party after a debate performance against former President Donald Trump some saw as troubling.
Beretta-Perik said that Biden is unique among presidents for his devotion to the American public and his actions while in office to “advance justice, fairness, and equity.”
“Tomorrow we celebrate our nation’s birth and rich long 248-year history,” she said. “But we should also celebrate and support the Biden Presidency which has sought to restore civility and dignity to our government.”

The Associated Press reported that Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on a Democratic National Committee call to stress the president would “get back up after being knocked down.”
“I am running. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out,” Biden said.
