Woonsocket Police release name of suspect in hit-and-run, asking public for assistance

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Woonsocket Police Department have released the name of a suspect in a hit-and-run that took place on East School Street on July 1.

37-year-old Andrew Michael Martin was charged with assault to commit murder, felony assault and battery, driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, and driving with a suspended/revoked/cancelled license.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a car hit a pedestrian on purpose.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
