UPDATE: Police announce suspects in stabbing, murder in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Police have announced the names of the suspects arrested in an early morning stabbing and murder that happened on Oak Street this morning in Cranston.
They have also announced the identity of the victim who was killed.
23-year-old Destiny Torres of North Providence was arrested and charged with one count of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, for the stabbing of a 15-year-old male.
24-year-old Edwin Torres of Cranston was arrested and charged with one count of murder in the death of 21-year-old Isaac Vasquez of Cranston.
According to police, officials responded to the scene around 1 a.m. after receiving an emergency call regarding a large disturbance in the area of Oak Street at Trainor Street.
Officers arrived to find a 15-year-old male stabbed in the back bleeding profusely.
According to officer, Destiny Torres, after allegedly stabbing the victim who is still in the hospital this afternoon, was seen getting into a grey Honda Accord being operated being operated by Edwin Torres.
At the same time, as additional officers were arriving on scene, other police officers allegedly witnessed Torres intentionally strike Vasquez with his vehicle in which he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Cranston Police Detective Unit, BCI Unit, Traffic Unit along with the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office are currently working on this investigation and it is ongoing.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Vasquez during this profoundly difficult time. We extend our heartfelt sympathies for their loss,” Major Todd Patalano said in a statement.
Both will appear in court this afternoon.
