One dead in fatal crash on Interstate 495

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — One person died in a crash on Interstate 495 on Sunday afternoon.

Massachusetts State Police said a fatal crash took place where Route 24 meets I-495 around 3:15 p.m.

Police said a car traveled into the woods off the road and was “smoking.”

Officials said one southbound lane was closed during the investigation, with all lanes reopening just before 7:30 p.m.

Authorities did not provide any additional details about the incident.
