6 people shot at Monte’s Playground in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Six people were shot overnight at a playground in New Bedford.

According to police, around 1 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the Russell St. and Acushnet Ave to find three adult victims with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials later learned that an additional three victims had driven to the hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene was secured as members of the detective division were activated to further the case, according to officials.

Currently, the investigation is still active as police follow up on leads.
