Man charged with DUI with two children in vehicle

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — A Connecticut man has been charged with a DUI after being stopped in Portsmouth with two children in the vehicle.

Jhonny Cespedes-Gil, 32, of Hartford, CT was arrested by Portsmouth police on July 6 and charged with DUI of liquor/drugs with a child passenger under 13 years of age.

Cespedes-Gil was stopped after being observed crossing the roadway’s centerline, and officers observed two minor children in the rear seats of the vehicle.

Cespedes-Gil was released with a District Court Summons to appear in Newport County District Court on July 18.

The children, ages six and one, were released to the custody of family members.
