One dead in a single-car crash

DARTMOUTH, MASS (WLNE) – Police are currently investigating a single-car crash that killed a Fairhaven man early Saturday morning.

Emergency personnel responded to the area of 373 Cross Road to a reported car crash with injuries at approximately 2:09 a.m. 

Upon arrival, police observed that a 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan left the roadway and struck both a utility pole and stonewall. 

The driver of the vehicle, who is identified as 23-year-old David Costa was extracted from the vehicle and transported to St Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

Police say he died a short time later. 

The crash is currently being investigated by Dartmouth and Massachusetts State Police detectives.
