Three people injured after crash on Interstate 1-95 in Swansea

SWANSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — Three people were injured after a fiery accident on Interstate 1-95 West this morning in Swansea.

According to officials, emergency responders arrived at the responded at 5:30 a.m. to find vehicles had left the roadway on both sides of the westbound travel lanes.

One vehicle was about 30 feet into the woods, and the other was on the right side of the highway, full engulfed.

Fire officials said the driver of that vehicle was assisted by passing motorists, while the other vehicle had continued through the median nearly entering oncoming eastbound traveling lanes.

One patient was transported to the Rhode Island Hospital, while another was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital.
