PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Police are investigating the fifth home invasion in the last month and a half, the second in 2 days. Early Saturday morning a 19 year old man was pistol whipped in own house.

"That is really scary, I’m going to be on high alert now," says Vilma Reynoso, a neighbor.

The latest home invasion happened early Saturday morning on Lisbon Street.Police say 5 or 6 masked men broke in to a multi family home, pistol whipping a 19 year old man and stealing a few items from the first floor apartment.

"I was like wow, blown away by it, surprised. It’s really, really quiet usually stuff like that doesn’t happen around the area," says Reynoso.

A tenant who didn’t want to go on camera tells ABC 6 News he called 911 after the 2 victims were banging on his door asking for help. He showed his security footage to police, saying the men broke in through the back door.

Police arrested 2 people a short time later on Valley Street, but they’re not saying if the arrests are connected.

This comes one day after a break in on Myrtle Street and 3 others in the last month or so.

On Friday, police said home invasions are unusual but that typically the robbers are after drugs or money and all of these crimes appeared to have been targeted.

"We’re not saying all of these victims are drug dealers we’re just saying we believe the intention was to hit a home that they believe contain narcotics or a good amount of money," Major David Lapatin said on Friday.

Police say because these home invasions appear to have been targeted, the general public has nothing to be nervous about.
