Construction to begin on affordable housing project in Central Falls

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — Construction will start today for the New Broad Street Homes Project that will bring 44 new affordable housing units to Central Falls.

The properties were chosen through Mayor Maria Rivera’s Housing Task Force and were purchased by the city via the RIHousing Site Acquisition Program.

The apartments will be available to households earning not more than 60 percent of the area’s median income.

Due to construction, a small portion of Summit Street will be one-way traffic starting today.

Vehicles will not be allowed to turn onto Summit Street from Broad Street.

Officers will be posted at the corner of Broad Street and Summit Street to help detour any traffic between Broad and Washington, as well as Pacific Street.
