Investigation into fatal fire from over the weekend continues

WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) – Authorities continue to investigate the death of a man in a fire at a Westerly home last weekend.
The victim of the Saturday night fire was identified by police as 52-year-old Connell Coffey.
He was found inside the home after the flames were extinguished. Firefighters, EMTs and police responded to a full working structure fire at his home around 7 p.m.
Police Chief Shawn Lacey says Coffey was found in the home’s living room. An autopsy is planned.
The house sustained significant damage.
The cause remains under investigation with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal.
