Braintree: Three arrested in international theft group

BRAINTREE, Mass. (WLNE) — Three suspects were arrested by Braintree police last week for allegedly participating in an international theft group that uses surveillance, GPS, video feeds and counter-surveillance to monitor potential victims.
The alleged members of the group, known as South American Theft Groups (SATGs), are accused of setting up a hidden camera outside of a home in the Messina Woods neighborhood before burgling the residence on June 20.
Believing that further burglaries were imminent, Braintree police developed and implemented a plan of surveillance.
On July 11, detectives observed a male dressed as a landscaper in a victim’s yard.
The subject left in a black Audi SUV and was followed to the Messina Woods neighborhood where the vehicle stopped and a male dressed in black, wearing a mask and carrying a backpack entered a wooded area and reappeared in the victim’s yard.
Surveillance units followed his movements as he made his way toward the hidden camera and reappeared after ten minutes and entered the SUV.
Detectives stopped the vehicle, which was occupied by two females who were detained.
The male subject fled on foot but was apprehended after a struggle.
The three suspects were arraigned at Quincy District Court with the male refusing identification attempts until he was fingerprinted and found to have a multi-state criminal history.
All three suspects were found to be citizens of Columbia.
They have been identified as Carlos Ocampo-Carrillo, 47, Diana Maria Alvarado-Rosano, 34, and Lizbeth Hernandez-Gantiva, 23.
Ocampo-Carrillo has been charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, carrying a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, breaking and entering and possession of burglarious tools.
Alvarado-Rosano is charged with providing false information following arrest, conspiracy and possession of burglarious tools.
Hernandez-Gantiva is charged with conspiracy and possession of burglarious tools.
