NANTUCKET, Mass. (WLNE) — Federal officials have ordered the shut down of Vineyard Wind, according to a report from WCVB, after pieces of floating debris and sharp fiberglass were found in the water.

The Nantucket Harbormaster had shared that the water was closed to swimming on all south shore beaches.

According to a report from WCVB, Vineyard Wind were deploying teams to search Nantucket’s southern beaches for any debris that has washed ashore after one of its offshore wind turbine blades was damaged.

“There were no injuries reported, but operations are shut down until further notice. BSEE is coordinating with the United States Coast Guard and state officials to ensure information sharing,” the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement said.

The BSSE and Vineyard Wind will work together on next steps, according to WCVB.
