JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A 36-year-old mother from Johnston was killed on Thursday night in a car accident, according to Johnston Police.

Michaela Greatorex of Greenville was driving eastbound on Hartford Avenue around midnight during a rainstorm when her car struck a utility pole, officials said.

Greatorex would later be pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

A loved one has since started a GoFundMe for her family, and said Greatorex leaves behind a 9 and 11-year-old son.

Funds from the GoFundMe will be for her funeral expenses.

So far, over $40,000 has been raised.

Police are actively investigating the incident.
