Netflix announces documentary series on death of John O’Keefe
BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Netflix announced that it would be producing a three-part documentary series on the death of Boston police officer John O’Keefe and murder trial of Karen Read.
The series is being produced by Sandpaper Films and is set to be co-directed by Danielle Johnson and Rob Miller.
“It is a case that has garnered a huge amount of public attention and has far-reaching implications,” the directors said. “We are also mindful that this is a hugely sensitive case and we are determined to treat all those involved with the respect and consideration they deserve.”
Read’s murder case was declared a mistrial after jurors could not come to a verdict. Her Mansfield home is currently for sale.
The lead investigator of the case, Trooper Michael Proctor, was suspended without pay by Massachusetts State Police after the trial.
