New Bedford cocaine trafficker sentenced to up to a decade in prison

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III said that a New Bedford man was sentenced to up to a decade in prison for cocaine trafficking and possession of an illegal firearm.

37-year-old Johan Baez pled guilty to charges of trafficking cocaine, carrying an illegal firearm – subsequent offense, possession of a high capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Quinn said that Baez was the target of a search warrant in August 2021.

During the search of his apartment and vehicle police found a kilogram of cocaine, a pound of marijuana, several THC vape pens, a 40 caliber handgun, two high-capacity magazines, and $3,800 cash.
