Lifespan performing all procedures despite outage

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Lifespan said that all of its facilities are performing procedures despite a widespread IT outage affecting businesses worldwide.

Spokesperson Jessica Wharton said that the situation has been “contained” and all surgeries are being performed at hospitals.

Updates on the situation at the facilities can be found here.

The global outage is believed to have been caused by a defective update by cybersecurity vendor CrowdStrike.
