Man taken into custody after standoff in North Attleboro

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Officials said that one man was taken into custody after a standoff in North Attleboro on Friday evening.

Town officials said police responded to a report of a disturbance on Mount Hope Street at 6:30 p.m. last night and found a man barricading himself inside of a home.

Authorities said a perimeter was established on the road for extra precaution and Massachusetts State Police crisis negotiators were called in.

After hours of talking to the man, negotiators were able to take him peacefully into custody.

Officials said that the man was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.
