Cat cafe could soon be coming to Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A cat cafe could be coming to Providence in the near future.

In a Facebook post, husband and wife duo Max and Kaylin Mugica-Drumm from Michigan shared that they were hoping to bring coffee lovers together while improving the wellbeing of their guests and furry friends.

Their cat cafe, Cafe Gato, would be the first one in Providence.

“By partnering with a local animal shelter, we plan to have a separate cat lounge within the sit-down cafe dedicated for our guests to meet our adoptable, furry friends while enjoying a premium coffee or specialty beverage,” they said.

“Now there is a lot we are working on to bring this dream to a reality, so if you would like to see us come to Providence, please join us in our journey of bringing Cafe Gato to life,” they added.

So far, the couple already has a website set up and is hoping to be located in the College Hill or Downtown area in the city.

The couple said that they are hoping lounge will be like an outdoor park, providing the resident cats with a “stimulating and enjoyable environment.”

“Picture benches and plenty of greenery that makes you feel like you’re outside. This setup will allow our cats to explore, play, and relax in a setting that mimics the outdoors, enhancing their well-being and making their time at the cafe more enjoyable,” states the website.
