Man severely injured in Bellingham dirt bike crash

BELLINGHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — A man sustained a significant hand injury after crashing his dirt bike yesterday in Bellingham.
According to police, around 8:30 p.m., Bellingham Police were called to a report of a dirt biker who had crashed off Depot Street.
Bellingham Police and Fire responded to the scene and identified the victim as a 24-year-old male from Franklin.
Officers discovered that the victim had severed multiple fingers in the crash and was experiencing heavy bleeding from his hand.
A tourniquet was applied to control the bleeding until paramedics were able to arrive, according to police.
Officers were able to recover his lost appendages and return them to medical personnel.
He was transported to the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated by Bellingham Police in conjunction with the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
