Rhode Island woman facing charges after wrong-way crash in Connecticut

KILLINGLY, R.I. (WLNE) — Connecticut State Police said a Rhode Island woman was charged in connection with a wrong-way collision on July 27.
36-year-old Meghan Wolfsberger was charged with operating under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
Police responded to Exit 39 of Interstate 395 in Killingly around 2 a.m. to find two cars with visible damage.
The driver of the car with a Connecticut registration told police that the other car allegedly “abruptly pulled out from its location in the right shoulder and performed a U-turn maneuver within the travel lanes.”
The driver added they were unable to avoid a collision.
Police said that Wolfsberger allegedly showed “signs of impairment” including the odor of alcohol and that she acknowledged she had been drinking.
An investigation of her car allegedly found empty alcohol containers on the driver’s side.
Wolfsberger was later released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 9.
