North Providence arson suspect accused of throwing cup of feces, fluids at correctional officers

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) –A Rhode Island man in federal custody who was charged with setting fire to a church earlier this year is now allegedly facing additional charges.
Kevin Colantonio, 35, of North Providence, was arrested back in February on an arson charge after investigators spotted him on surveillance footage setting fire to Shiloh Gospel Temple Ministries.
According to official documents, it is alleged that Colantonio set several fires around the exterior of Shiloh Gospel Temple around midnight on Feb. 11.
The fire was quickly extinguished by North Providence Police and Fire Departments. No injuries were reported.
Federal court documents were unsealed this week and revealed that Colantonio is now facing charges after he allegedly threw a mixture of feces and bodily fluids at officers through a “food trap.”
Back in March, correctional officers at approached Colantonio’s cell, opened the “food trap” and offered him coffee, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit noted that Colantonio went to grab a cup off of the sink in his cell “as if to accept a cup of coffee.”
Colantonio was charged with felony assault on a federal officer.
