Man in custody after stabbing in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said a 57-year-old man is in custody after a stabbing took place Wednesday morning.

Wayne Souza was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and assault and battery.

Police responded to North Main Street around 10:30 a.m. to find a 44-year-old man suffering from an apparent stab would to his abdomen.

The victim was transported to a local trauma center and is currently in “stable condition.”

Police added that witnesses said the victim and suspect were arguing before the stabbing took place.

The name of the suspect was not released.
