Man charged in deadly hit-and-run case in Warwick

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Police have a made an arrest after Sunday’s deadly hit-and-run accident in Warwick.

24-year-old Dannys L. De Jesus Marcano was arrested at his home in North Kingstown, and charged with one count of Duty to stop in accidents resulting in death, and one count of Duty to stop in accidents resulting in serious bodily injury.

Warwick Police, with the help of North Kingstown Police, arrested Marcano after locating the car involved in the incident.

Nicholas Cote, 44, of Warwick, was pronounced deceased at the scene Sunday.

The investigation found that 26-year-old Logan Barboza was traveling southbound on Quaker Lane when her vehicle struck Cote, who was on foot, in the right southbound lane.

Barboza stopped to check on Cote’s condition when she was struck by a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee causing her serious bodily injury.

The vehicle also ran over Cote causing fatal injury.

Barboza was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious bodily injuries.

Marcano allegedly continued southbound on Quaker Lane without stopping.

He was be arraigned today at Noel Judicial Complex.
