BLACKSTONE, Mass. (WLNE) — The Blackstone Police Department was notified that someone is pretending to be the police chief in a scam to get residents to give out personal information.

Officials said residents are receiving calls from someone disguising themselves as Chief Gregory Gilmore in an attempt to get information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, dates of birth and other personal information.

The suspects are said to be using technology to make the call appear like it is coming from the department’s actual number, 508-883-1212.

Officials are asking residents to not respond to these requests and to contact the department if they are unsure.
