New Bedford man arrested in narcotics investigation

NEW BEDOFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A man from New Bedford was arrested after police concluded their investigation into narcotics being distributed on Pleasant Street.

The investigation was following a raid last Friday.

30-year-old Ishmael Mahmoud was charge for counts of firearms possession along with ammunition, trafficking in excess of 10 grams of fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute several classes of narcotics.

Police said after a search warrant was executed at his apartment, officials found him to be in possession of over 11 grams of fentanyl, 3.4 grams of cocaine, over 33 grams of methamphetamine, and suboxone strips.

According to officials, items used in the processing and preparation of narcotics for street-level sales were found, including cutting agents, digital scales, and packaging materials.

The suspect was also found to be in possession of a loaded Tristar .45 caliber pistol and a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 revolver.

Police said they seized $366 in cash was also seized as a result of the nature of his charges.
