Amtrak says ‘significant delays’ caused by tree on fire on track
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Amtrak said that trains traveling through Providence will face “significant delays” due to a tree on fire that fell on a track.
The disruption began around 9 p.m. with overhead power being cut and customers on one train being transferred to another.
SERVICE ALERT: As of 10:00 PM ET, trains traveling through Providence (PVD) are anticipated to experience delays due to Fire Department activity in the area, resulting in heavy rail congestion. Lengthy delays are expected. We will provide updates as information becomes available.

Amtrak said the tree was removed at 10:10 p.m. and power was restored, and there were no injuries.
