PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Governor Gina Raimondo has ordered all U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state agencies and buildings to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the victims of the Capital Gazette shooting that occurred last Thursday.
This order comes shortly after President Donald Trump announced a similar public order.
"We do not have to–and should not–accept frequent mass shootings as our new normal," said Governor Gina M. Raimondo. "I’m praying for the victims and their families and once again calling on Congress to take action against gun violence."
Raimondo also asks Rhode Island citizens to set their own flags at half-staff, as a way to show respect for the victims and their families.
