6 arrested at Dominican Festival in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Six individuals were arrested at the Dominican Festival over the weekend, according to Providence Police.

According to the police report, officers were assigned to disperse large disorderly crowds on Sunday around 10 p.m.

The crowds were allegedly disorderly and engaging in public drinking on Miller Avenue and Broad Street.

Police asked a man, identified as 27-year-old Adonis Placencia, to leave the area or he would be arrested for disorderly conduct.

Placencia was allegedly seen by officers trying to discard a black satchel.

Police said they would later discover a 9 mm gun inside.

According to officers, Placencia did resist arrest and was charged with resisting, disorderly conduct, and carrying an open container.

He is also facing gun charges.

While Placencia was arrested, a crowd gathered around police and allegedly started throwing bottles at officers.

One man associated with the group, identified as 40-year-old Edward Mclean, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault.

25-year-old Denzel Rodriguez and 19-year-old Damien Reyes were also arrested after they allegedly assaulted officers.

Rodriguez allegedly attempted to interfere with the arrest of Reyes.

He was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

Reyes was charged with obstruction and disorderly conduct.

24-year-old Melissa Reynoso was also arrested and detained for reportedly pushing officers who were arresting Reyes and Rodriguez.

She was charged with obstruction.

Another man, Frank Villagran of Providence was arrested. Details on Villagran’s arrest were not provided.

Providence Police will hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon at their Public Safety complex regarding the incident.
