Brown University mourns professor’s death after Friday crash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Brown University released a statement after one of its faculty members was hit and killed in a crash last Friday.
77-year-old Lundy Braun was hit by a car backing up out of a driveway on Strathmore Road in Cranston. The Police Chief told ABC6 at the time it appeared to be a tragic accident, and the driver did not see Braun walking.
Braun first came to Brown in 1982, and was a professor with a PhD in medical science and Africana studies.
In the statement, a university spokesperson said Braun was known internationally for her research on how assumptions about race have shaped biomedical research.
