MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — A Middleborough man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attacking a police officer with a knife after barricading himself in his home, according to Middleborough police.

Kevin MacDonald, 42, faces charges of assault to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

He also has three additional active arrest warrants.

On Wednesday at approximately 4 a.m., Middleborough police received a call from MacDonald’s mother stating that he was acting erratically inside the Cherry Street home.

MacDonald was barricaded inside his room shouting threats at the officers upon their arrival.

Officers attempted to negotiate with MacDonald, and eventually decided to attempt to enter the room.

At this time they discovered MacDonald had used a mattress to block the doorway.

Officers pushed into the room and MacDonald allegedly stabbed one officer twice in the forearm with a knife.

Officers then successfully used tasers on MacDonald and took him into custody.

The injured officer was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

MacDonald will be arraigned at Wareham District Court at a later date.
