Providence man sentenced in 2020 convenience store shooting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Providence man was sentenced in Providence County Superior Court to 14 years at the ACI for the shooting of an 18-year-old convenience store clerk.
Emmanuel Narcisse, 21, was sentenced August 9 to 22 years, with 14 to serve in the ACI, and an eight-year suspended sentence with 22 years of probation.
Narcisse was found guilty in January of one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence and one count of carrying a pistol without a license.
On October 1, 2020, Providence police responded to calls of a shooting at GI Joe’s Convenience Store on Smith Street, where officers found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the right leg.
The victim stated that two subjects left the store, one of them with an item he did not pay for.
He confronted them outside and a physical altercation resulted, with two more subjects joining in, one of them shooting the victim in the leg, firing into the victim’s car and then fleeing the scene.
Surveillance footage from both the store and across the street confirmed the victim’s account of the incident, and Narcisse was identified through the footage and witness testimony.
Narcisse was arrested on December 20, 2020.
